Thirty eight farmers from Counties Antrim and Down were recently awarded BTEC Diplomas for the Grass Challenge and Dairy Herd Fertility Challenge programmes.

John Fay, Director of CAFRE presented Malcolm Crawford with the Imperial Service Medal at a special lunch held at Greenmount Campus in October. This Medal, one of the UK’s highest commendations, is awarded in recognition of long and loyal service within the Civil Service.

Giving good advice on the use of fertiliser on farm has never been so important. Advise on too little usage and the farmer’s crop is reduced. Advise on too much usage and the farmer wastes money; pollution may result; the farmer could be fined and his Single Farm Payment or Countryside management scheme payment reduced.
