Minister Michelle Gildernew MP, MLA has launched the new Countryside Management Scheme in Newcastle, County Down.
At the launch the minister announced that the new scheme will open to applications from 30 June to 29 August 2008. She also confirmed that the Organic Farming Scheme will open from 1 September to 31 October 2008.

Minister Michelle Gildernew MP MLA, has launched a new ICT booklet in Eglish, Dungannon.
The Minister visited Nicola Beavers’ farm in Eglish, Dungannon, to launch the booklet “IT Connects - Farmers’ experiences from the Increasing Access to ICT Scheme”. Nicola runs a 250 ewe flock on her Co. Tyrone farm, including 50 high quality pedigree Texel ewes. She has been using electronic tags and a handheld data recorder for the last year.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development wishes to remind farmers that the closing date for submitting their 2008 Single Farm Applications is Thursday 15 May. Applications received by the DARD after 15 May and before 9 June will incur late penalties. Those received after 9 June will be rejected.
