Minister launches DARD/Industry Renewables Open Day

A DARD / Industry Renewables Open Day, to be held at CAFRE’s Loughry Campus on Thursday 23 August 2007, was recently launched by the Agriculture  Minister, Michelle Gildernew.

The Renewables Open Day will be facilitated by DARD working in collaboration with the following industry partners - UFU, Carbon Trust, Action Renewables, AFBI and RSPB. The event will provide an opportunity for farmers and growers to see at first hand practical examples of how adopting energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies can improve their business performance.  

Commenting the Minister said “I am extremely pleased to formally launch this Renewables Open Day and fully appreciate and commend the commitment of our industry partners to the event.  The renewables sector has the potential to provide exciting opportunities for land owners and also to demonstrate alternative business opportunities for our rural communities. I wish the event every success and would encourage farmers, growers and those within rural communities to attend on Thursday 23 August”.
