Information Meetings on Nitrates Directive Derogation

Nitrates Derogation Information Meetings

23 January 2008
Brian Finch, CAFRE, Greenmount Campus
CAFRE is running a series of Nitrates Derogation Information Meetings across N.I. These meetings will cover the Nitrates Derogation rules and a case study of how the Derogation will operate on a farm. You will also have the opportunity to calculate N loading and P Balance for your farm and discuss the implications of the derogation for your farm business with your local Dairy or Beef and Sheep Development Adviser. Environment and Heritage staff will be on hand to assist with the completion of the application forms.
This is particularly important for intensive dairy and beef farmers who have a livestock manure loading greater than 170 KG N per ha. Farmers must apply for the 2008 derogation by 1 March 2008.
