Two local women came top at the recent National Animal Health Conference, Coventry, scooping the top two AMTRA (Animal Medicines Training Regulatory Authority) prizes.
Heather Laverty, Fane Valley, came first across the UK being the top SQP student. Helen Steele of Steele Farm Supplies, Ballymoney came second.
Having both completed the AMTRA merchant’s course at Greenmount Campus, CAFRE, this is a tremendous achievement for Heather and Helen and good reward for all their hard work.
Heather, a sales assistant at the Fane Valley Lane Ends store, Tandragee said - “Although I worked hard during the course and in preparing for the exams I didn’t think I would come top in the UK. The course at Greenmount Campus certainly helped me”.
Helen who along with her husband John runs the Ballymoney Farm Supplies business said – “I knew that I had to complete the AMTRA exams to keep within the legislation but the whole course gave me a better understanding of animal health. The AMTRA prize was a real bonus.”
AMTRA is an independent regulatory body whose task it is to ensure that the marketing and distribution of animal medicines in the UK is undertaken in a responsible manner by AMTRA qualified persons.
