Sheep Shearing in action
CAFRE run a series of sheep shearing courses, all of which except the advanced are suitable for shearers at beginner and intermediate level. British Wool Marketing Board approved instructors deliver them ensuring quality training is provided.
Areas covered include setting and daily maintenance of shearing equipment, handling the ewe and shearing. These courses are free to farmers and farm workers and are part financed through the EU BSP programme. Because this is a practical skills course the number of places are limited, so please book early with Greenmount Campus if you wish to be sure of a place.

Trainees who "turn up" at a course that is full will not be allowed to participate in training.
Sheep shearing demands a large amount of physical effort and should only be undertaken by persons who consider themselves to be fit and well.
