Farmers and growers are currently receiving forms for the 2006 Agricultural and Horticultural Census.
Conducted annually at the beginning of June, the Census serves as the only uniform and comprehensive information source on agricultural production and the farm labour force in Northern Ireland.
Since 2003, it has been possible to complete the Census online at the Rural NI portal and farmers with internet access are encouraged to try this fast and efficient way of making a return. Staff in the Census office are also happy to answer any queries that farmers may have regarding the form and can be contacted at 028 90525432.
Census results are available in booklet form on application to Farm Surveys Branch, or at the DARD website[external site] Feedback on the Census form and the online version are welcomed.
Please make your return as soon as possible - to ensure that agriculture counts. Your cooperation is very much appreciated.
