Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, David Cairns, MP, has launched a consultation on the new Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme. The proposed programme is set to run from 2007 to 2013 and is an integral part of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development's (DARD) Rural Strategy and the DARD Strategic Plan. This programme is also a requirement under European Council Regulation 1698/2005.

One of the top local summer attractions each year is the Greenmount Country Show and this year's show will be held on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th June at the Greenmount Campus of the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise near Antrim.
