Sweet William blooms in Ballinderry
David Davidson, Greenmount Campus, CAFRE
At a recent training event organised by CAFRE, Dolway McCorry, a local cut flower grower and David Davidson, Greenmount Campus, delivered presentations on the growing of Sweet William.
The event was attended by new and established cut flower growers who had the opportunity to view the cut flower crop and gain an understanding of the production and marketing of Sweet William. In addition Dolway has adopted the technology of growing new varieties of Sweet William in polytunnels which was originally developed and demonstrated at Greenmount Campus.
Sweet William is only one of a wide range of cut flowers and foliages now being grown in Northern Ireland and if you wish to receive more details on local cut flower production contact David Davidson on 028 3751 5605 or email david.davidson@dardni.gov.uk.
