Tour - Finishing house

- There are two types of finishing accommodation on this unit.
- Two rows of naturally ventilated Solari pens provide accommodation for over half the finishing pigs with the rest accomodated in a fan ventilated house

- The roof of the Solari pens is inclined to encourage stale air to move out of the front of the pens
- Ventilation is controlled by adjustable cladding at the front of the pen
- The roof of the house is insulated with 50mm of spray on foam
- The roof overhang is also insulated to prevent condensation and corrosion of the roofing material

- Each Solari pen accommodates 20 pigs at a stocking rate of 7.2sqm / pig
- The fully slatted floor ensures pig cleanliness
- The pigs are fed ad lib via a "back -to-back" single space wet and dry feeder
- There are no additional nipple drinkers in the pen

- In the second finishing house ventilation is provided by a single Automatically Controlled Recirculation Unit (ACRU)
- Again fully slatted pens ensure pig cleanliness
- In this house competitive feeders are used to feed the pigs. The feeder which is positioned in the pen division feeds 40 pigs
