Tour - Finishing house

Accommodation House.
  • There are two types of finishing accommodation on this unit.
  • Two rows of naturally ventilated Solari pens provide accommodation for over half the finishing pigs with the rest accomodated in a fan ventilated house
Solari pens.
  • The roof of the Solari pens is inclined to encourage stale air to move out of the front of the pens
  • Ventilation is controlled by adjustable cladding at the front of the pen
  • The roof of the house is insulated with 50mm of spray on foam
  • The roof overhang is also insulated to prevent condensation and corrosion of the roofing material
Solari pen.
  • Each Solari pen accommodates 20 pigs at a stocking rate of 7.2sqm / pig
  • The fully slatted floor ensures pig cleanliness
  • The pigs are fed ad lib via a "back -to-back" single space wet and dry feeder
  • There are no additional nipple drinkers in the pen
ACRU unit.
  • In the second finishing house ventilation is provided by a single Automatically Controlled Recirculation Unit (ACRU)
  • Again fully slatted pens ensure pig cleanliness
  • In this house competitive feeders are used to feed the pigs. The feeder which is positioned in the pen division feeds 40 pigs
