Combined weaner Accommodation

Pigs are transferred at 28 days of age to the combined weaner grower house. Average weight at entry is 9.2kg. Pigs remain in the weaner grower house until they are transferred to the finishing house at an average weight of 36.6kg. The weaner grower house is divided into 6 rooms which is serviced by a common passage

Pigs in each room can be viewed through a window along the passage. Temperature ventilation and lighting can be adjusted from the main access passage

Each room accommodates 60 pigs. Group size/pen can be 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or 60 pigs. A 750 mm wide access passage runs the length of each room. A totally slatted plastic floor ensures pen cleanliness and pig comfort

Incoming air is heated by Delta bars. Room temperature is set at 28C at entry . It is reduced to 25C after the first week. By the end of the third week it is at 19C
