Door Ventilation
Door ventilation is a simple, relatively inexpensive system of ventilation which is recommended for use in growing/finishing houses.
It was developed in Holland and is now one of the most popular systems of ventilation for growing/ finishing houses in Holland.
How does it work?
Door ventilation works on the principle of bringing air into the house through an opening in the door. The air moves along either the central or side passage depending on the layout of the room. As the air moves along the passage it starts to warm up.

As it warms it rises and is then drawn out by an extractor fan in the roof. The fan is positioned in the roof 0.3 - 0.6m from the door. Ventilation control is achieved by both manual adjustment of the opening in the door and also by automatic control of fan speed.
Other practical considerations
- Maximum width and length of room in which door ventilation will work successfully is 40' (12 m).
- Maximum width of passage 4' (1.2 m).
- Fan positioned in roof 0.3 - 0.6 m from the door.
- As with all automatic systems it is essential to install a back-up system in the event of power failure.
- Front pen divisions must be solid and a minimum of 2' (0.6 m) high, preferably 3'6" (1.05 m) high.
- Passage can be slatted or solid, although preferably solid.
