Relative feed values
Relative feed values
The Northern Ireland dairy farmer has a wide selection of feeds available for formulating diets. Within this section of the Ruralni portal you can access a programme which allows you to calculate whether or not a feed is value for money. It is important to remember that feeds should also be selected on the quality of nutrients that they supply.
What are relative feed values?
Relative feed values allow you to determine the maximum price you can afford to pay for a feed relative to barley and soya. Your local Greenmount Campus Development Adviser can then assist you with the formulation of a balanced ration.
Relative feed value programme – access a spreadsheet which will allow you to calculate the relative value of a range of feeding straights. Values and equations also need to be entered into the spreadsheet to make it operational.
