Low levels of protein in the Northern Ireland milk supply have long been recognised as a major limiting factor in competitiveness of this major sector of the agricultural industry. However, in recent years a considerable amount of research has provided much useful information. This can be brought together to provide management guidelines for dairy farmers to help raise the protein content of milk in a cost effective manner
