Business Challenge for Dairy Farmers

There are wide differences in financial performance on farms within the dairy sector, with the poorest farms achieving only 14 percent of the profit per hectare of excellent farms (as assessed by Greenmount benchmarking). This shows that there is scope to make more money.

Aim

To help you identify your business strengths & weaknesses and make the necessary decisions and improvements to increase profits.

What is involved?

Two units covered in this Challenge are:
  • Enterprise resources and performance
  • Enterprise planning
Local group meetings will help you learn from others whilst also receiving support from your local Dairying Development Adviser. There will be best practice visits to demonstrate how you can make improvements on your farm. On completion, there is an opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification.
