Higher and Further Education Courses

Higher National Diploma in Rural and Countryside Management[external site] - two or three years depending on the length of work
The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise offers a range of training courses in agri-environment topics.  These courses take place on local farms or meeting rooms and typically last from an afternoon or evening up to two days.
  • Fencing - one day
  • Field Boundary Management including Tree and Hedge Planting - half day
  • Cross Compliance  - half  day
  • Dealing with Farm Wastes - half  day
  • Nitrates Information Meeting - half  day
  • Nitrates Derogation Meeting - half  day
  • Introduction to Nutrient Management Planning - half  day
  • Computerised Nutrient Management Planning - half  day
  • Hedge Restoration (Laying and Coppicing)  - one day
  • Dry stone walling - two days
