Nitrate Vulnerable Zones

Nitrate Vunerable zones are designated areas in which the over application of nitrogen to crops can have major implications on levels in groundwater and therefore posing a potential health risk.

Three areas are designated in Northern Ireland. Countryside Management Division will provide guidance and support to landowners within the designated areas on request.

Liase with the Environmental and Heritage Service (legislation implementers) on issues and concerns raised by landowners
