Cut flower production

The project aim was to evaluate the production of cut flowers in Northern Ireland and to transfer a system of production to all types of growers.

Cut flowers species include Antirrhinum, China Asters and stock for extended season production for the past three years.
Lovely lillies
New varieties of cut flower lilies were recently demonstrated at Greenmount Campus and arranged by our Floristry Students. Enthusiastic expressions of “lovely”, “exciting autumnal colours” were heard from the students who are florists themselves.

An on-farms trial on cut flowers was conducted at Derramore Nursery, Bessbrook, Newry and Seacoast Nurseries, Limavady in conjunction with Greenmount Campus (CAFRE) between May and September 2001
