Establishment of storage conditions
With the high yields and ambient temperatures this season, establishment of storage conditions was difficult. Your CA stores should be performing to the following ideal acceptable standards.
- Stores loaded in 3 - 5 days.
- Temperature down to 4.40C (40OF) in a further 2 days ie. 5 - 7 days from start of loading.
- Correct gas level (8% C02) achieved in a further 10 days ie. 15 - 17 days from the start of loading.
A sealed Bramley store should build up C02 at a rate of 2% a day, thus reaching 8% C02 within 4 days from sealing.
Carefully check your CA conditions and record them in your logbook twice daily.
